Two Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences researchers have been recognized in the latest round of NSERC Discovery Research Program awards.
Dr. Miffy Hok Yan Cheng received $190,000 to develop nature-inspired lipid nanoparticles designed for gene delivery. This research builds on innovations in pharmaceutical drug delivery systems with potential to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
Dr. Ly Vu was awarded $240,000 for research on post-transcriptional regulation of hematopoietic stem cell function and cell fate determination in hematopoiesis. This work examines fundamental mechanisms that could have implications for blood disorders and regenerative medicine.
The awards are part of $47.6 million in funding distributed to 199 UBC-led research projects through the 2026 NSERC Discovery Research Program competition, recognizing the breadth and depth of scientific excellence across the university.
