The Program

The UBC Flex PharmD Program is intended for pharmacists who wish to advance their careers by attaining the PharmD degree while working full-time or part-time. The Flex PharmD Program combines best practices in adult and distance learning in a part-time setting.

Our competency-based curriculum provides students with up-to-date professional knowledge and skills required to excel in professional practice in a wide range of pharmacy settings. It also imparts students with knowledge and skills in leadership, communication, management, and innovative practice roles. Opportunities may also be available for students to develop non-direct patient care knowledge and skills in areas such as research.

Students work at their own pace by selecting how many courses to take per term*, and enrolling in courses that are of interest and importance to their practice. It's a terrific fit for learners who are motivated and self-directed.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

Some pharmacists may have already met a number of the Program's learning outcomes through prior training and/or experience. To recognize these competencies, we've developed a system whereby students can apply for course credit for knowledge and skills previously acquired through formal and/or non-formal learning, such as Residency programs, Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), on-the-job experience, independent study, etc.
