Application Timeline

To be considered for admission to the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program, we must receive your completed application by the deadline. Read the following carefully to ensure you meet all deadlines and requirements.

Step 1: Apply to UBC

Deadline: December 1, 2019

Application Fee for 2020: $219 CAD

The Entry-to-Practice PharmD program requires a UBC application or Change of Program/Readmission application (for UBC students).

Current UBC students can access the Change of Program application online, via the Student Service Centre (SSC): The Change of Program form is located under the Registration tab.

Former UBC students can apply online to be readmitted via the Student Service Centre (SSC): The Readmission form is located under the Admissions tab.

Step 2: Academic Transcripts

Deadline: January 2020 (exact deadline is communicated to applicants by the Undergraduate Admissions Office after submitting an application)

After submitting the UBC application, your application will be checked by a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team. This process may take some time, but once that process is completed, you will receive an email with instructions on submitting your academic transcripts and other required documents. Please refer to this email for your transcript deadlines. For the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program, you are required to submit:

  1. Current official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that you have attended, or are currently attending. If you are enrolled as a student by the time you submit your application, you will need to submit a transcript that includes final grades for coursework completed up to December 2019 and courses that are in progress between January – April 2020.
  2. Additional required transcripts or test scores, as requested by the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Note: UBC and UBC Okanagan students do not need to submit UBC transcripts.

Step 3: Residency Declaration Form

Deadline: February 10, 2020

As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete a Residency Declaration Form. Instructions will be given via email. You will be asked to indicate whether you are a resident of British Columbia (see “Applicant Groups” section on the Admissions Information page, as well as the BC region you are from.

If you are a resident of British Columbia, you will be asked to present proof of residency in the form of a valid BC Services card at the interview, if you are invited. Residents of the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut are required to present equivalent documentation to the BC residency requirement. Applicants who identify as residents of underserved communities may be asked to provide evidence to verify their home region (e.g. proof of home address).

All applicants, regardless of residency status, are required to submit this form.

Step 4: Evaluation

Timeline: December 2019 to March 2020

Your application will be evaluated after all required documents are received. Admission evaluators will review your transcripts to determine if you meet the admission requirements of the program and to calculate your admission averages.

This process takes a significant amount of time and resources to complete. During this time we may not be able to provide updates on the status of your application until a decision is reached.

Step 5: Interviews

Timeline: April to May 2020

Selected applicants are invited to participate in the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) process and will be notified via email in early April. Please ensure that your contact information is current on the SSC. You will be contacted regardless of the outcome of your application.

The Multiple Mini Interviews held in person in Vancouver, British Columbia, and alternate interview dates cannot be accommodated if a candidate is not available. The 2020 dates are:

  • Saturday, May 2, 2020
  • Sunday, May 3, 2020

Step 6: Final Transcripts

Deadline: May 15, 2020

Please ensure that all final transcripts are submitted to the Undergraduate Admissions office by May 15, 2020, unless otherwise communicated by the Undergraduate Admissions office.

Step 7: Admission Decisions

Timeline: June 2020

Final admission decisions will be communicated to applicants starting in early June 2020. You will be notified via email regardless of the outcome. Please ensure that your contact information is current in the SSC.

Admission Offers and Acceptance Deposits

UBC will extend offers of admission to approximately 224 well-qualified students who demonstrate the academic potential and motivation to become caring and competent pharmacists. Admission offers are subject to confirmation by the Undergraduate Admissions Office that all final transcripts have been received and that entrance requirements have been met. Offers will be revoked if these requirements have not been met.

A $2000 non-refundable acceptance deposit fee is required to hold a spot in the program. This deposit is payable upon accepting an admission offer and will be credited towards the tuition fees for the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program. Acceptance deposits cannot be applied towards the tuition fees for other UBC programs.

Acceptance deposits are non-refundable and will not be reimbursed if a candidate changes their decision after accepting their offer.

Post-Acceptance Requirements
It is mandatory for all newly admitted students to register with the College of Pharmacists of BC, and to be in compliance with current immunization requirements. More information can be found here.

Tuition fees are reviewed and approved by the Board of Governors annually and are subject to increase.
