Dr. Patricia Gerber obtained her bachelor of science in pharmacy degree at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1993. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency program at the Children's & Women's Health Centre of British Columbia in 1994, and obtained her graduate doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree from UBC in 1997.

Between 1994 and 2008, while teaching paediatric pharmacotherapy in the UBC Bachelor of Pharmacy (BSc Pharm) and Graduate Doctor of Pharmacy (Grad PharmD) programs, Dr. Gerber served in various roles at the Children's & Women's Health Centre of BC: as clinical pharmacist and preceptor in pediatric neurology and psychiatry, as education coordinator, and as residency coordinator.

Since 2008, Dr. Gerber has served in several educational leadership roles at the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences spanning across undergraduate and graduate academic programs, as one of three faculty members who designed and developed the entry-to-practice PharmD and Flexible Doctor of Pharmacy programs, as Coordinator and Director of the Graduate PharmD program, and as coordinator and instructor of several undergraduate and graduate courses. 

Her excellence in teaching has been recognized with the Third Year Pharmacy Teaching Award in both 2011 and 2012, and as a nominee for the Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award every year between 2020 and 2023. At the national level, Dr. Gerber has been a two-time nominee for the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) Award for Innovation in Education in 2016 and 2021. 

Dr. Gerber serves in a number of leadership and scholarly roles at the Faculty, nationally and internationally. Her current teaching roles, scholarly interests, and accomplishments are in the areas of leadership, professionalism, professional identity formation, and ethics. 

In her current role as director, Degree Programs for Pharmacists, Dr. Gerber serves as director of the Flexible PharmD program and of the new Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy Leadership.

Dr. Gerber's areas of research and special accomplishments are professionalism, professional identity formation, and leadership.
