Utilizing Generative AI in Pharmacist Education
GENRx is an innovative proof-of-concept project that harnesses the power of generative AI to transform pharmacy education. Designed as a web-based platform, GENRx simulates realistic virtual patient consultations, giving pharmacy students opportunities to practice history taking, communication, physical assessment, and documentation in a safe, engaging environment.
By interacting with AI-driven patient personas, students can navigate dynamic clinical scenarios, receive tailored responses, and build essential skills in interviewing and decision-making. For educators, GENRx offers tools to upload patient cases, track student progress, and support meaningful feedback.
Our goal is to increase flexibility and accessibility in pharmacist training while fostering student confidence and competence. Beyond pharmacy, GENRx also opens doors for adaptation in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, and continuing education programs, extending its potential impact across health disciplines.
The next phase of GENRx will bring new features like voice-to-voice interaction, debrief tools, and expanded clinical activities. We are also conducting research to better understand learner and instructor experiences and actively exploring collaborations to further shape the future of AI-enhanced health education.
