Dr. Lalitha Raman-Wilms, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC, has received the Distinguished Leadership Award from the India Canada Culture and Heritage Association (ICCHA).
The award was presented at a gala ceremony on October 12, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
ICCHA is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization dedicated to promoting racial, religious, and cultural harmony and equal rights for all in Canada. The organization celebrates the history of settlement of people of Indian origin in Canada and their contributions to Canadian society, with aims and objectives concerning human rights and education.
Dr. Raman-Wilms joins an esteemed group of previous recipients that includes former Governor General of Canada Edward Schreyer, former premiers Gary Doer, Gary Filmon, and Ujjal Dosanjh, as well as distinguished academic leaders and community members who have made significant contributions to Canadian society.
Since joining UBC as Dean in October 2024, Dr. Raman-Wilms has brought extensive leadership experience from her previous role as Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba's Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. Her distinguished career includes significant contributions to pharmacy education, research on medication optimization in older adults, and advocacy for equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and reconciliation.
Dr. Raman-Wilms has received numerous awards for her teaching and leadership throughout her career and has served twice as President of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada.
