Dr. Brent Page, assistant professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC) has received a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR) Scholar Award for 2019.
The MSFHR Scholar and Research Trainee Awards support exceptional early career researchers from a range of health research disciplines. This year, the Foundation awarded 20 Scholar and 38 Research Trainee awards to recipients from across British Columbia. Selection is highly competitive. In receiving this award, Dr. Page joins six current MSFHR Scholars in the Faculty.
Dr. Brent Page holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from UBC, and received a PhD in chemistry from the University of Toronto. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden before starting a research group at Karolinska as an assistant professor. He maintains this research team at the Karolinska Institute Department of Oncology and Pathology along with running a medicinal chemistry and chemical biology lab at UBC Pharm Sci. Dr. Page’s research focuses on developing small molecule inhibitors for disease-relevant targets, with a specific focus on anti-cancer drug discovery.
