Objectives
- Entrepreneur in Residence developing collaboration ideas with PharmD program in PHRM 351 (2024–26).
- Continue to explore the possibility of formal internships (i.e., co-ops) in BPSc (2025).
Achieved Goals
Graduate
- Developed and launched “Entrepreneurship in Pharmaceutical Sciences”, under the ADGPS portfolio, to introduce the business concept and mindset. Co-taught pilot with Entrepreneur-In-Residence, Dr Shyh Dar Li and a UBC Pharm Sci MSc alumnus (May–June 2023).
- Organized two entrepreneur-focused workshops with PharmD, one in PHRM 351 and UBC Pharmaceutical Industry and Healthtech club (Pitech) (summer 2023).
- Designed and developed the curriculum, admission policies and procedures, and other necessary administrative structures for the Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy program with the aim of launch (2024).
- Launched the inaugural annual PharmSci Venture Competition in collaboration with ADGPS and DAE’s office (2024); 5 teams participated. Throughout the event, students received guidance from Linh Le (Entrepreneur-in-Residence) and mentors from local biotech companies. Final pitch (March 2025).
- Participated in the SBME Propels Commercialization Workshop Series (Nov 2024).
Undergrad
- Launched the experiential component of the BPSc program (2023/24). BPSc program sought community and industry partners for practicum placements in career-focused positions (Winter 2024–25).
- Initiated exploration of co-ops as a potential option for the BPSc program (spring 2025). Internally approved "Co-operative education” course in the BPSc program with plan to implement in 2026W, with first students expected to be admitted to co-op terms in 2027, as well as Directed Studies options for smaller sites (Sep 2025).
- Implemented a pilot of the Regional Practicum Model (RPM) which enables students to complete their final year practicum experiences in a dedicated rural/remote region outside of the lower mainland; in the first cohort 7 students were placed in Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Kamloops and surrounding villages (2024); second cohort of the RPM included 10 students with the previous towns, plus Prince George and Victoria (2025); Recruited third cohort of 21 students tocomplete 32 weeks of experiential learning (i.e., all year 3 and 4 practicums) in a dedicated geographical region outside of the Lower Mainland, including Kamloops, Vernon, Penticton, Kelowna, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Prince George (fall 2025).
- Expanded the Summer Student Research Program (SSRP) stipend award program through a $30K grant from a UBC funding initiative: VPRI Expanded Undergraduate Research Opportunities (summer 2025).
