Objectives
- Work with BC Transplant to (1) Develop an education module, informed by volunteers with lived experience from BCT, that will be utilized to train community pharmacists to engage diverse populations in discussions about organ donation and transplantation awareness (2) Train community pharmacists (3) Hold community awareness events in community pharmacists and evaluate impact of project on organ donation awareness and registration (2025).
Achieved Goals
- Ongoing touchpoint meetings scheduled between Associate Dean, Practice Innovation, the College of Pharmacists of BC, health authorities and the Ministry of Health (2023 and ongoing).
- The Faculty, through the Academic Portfolio, is building connection and reciprocal relationships to residency programs through connections with Lower Mainland Pharmacy Services (LMPS) (fall 2024); development task force formed (fall 2024); discussions continued to determine how the Faculty role in residency could be extended (2025).
- Fostered partnerships between pharmacists and other members of the health care system with a goal to advance health equity, strengthen local engagement, and expand our role in the community. Associate Dean Practice Innovation portfolio partnered with BC Transplant to increase public organ donation awareness and registration in pharmacies by leveraging accesibility and trust associated with community pharmacist (2025).
