Vaughn Chauvin BSc.Phm, R.Ph, CDE

Vaughn attained his BSc(Pharm) degree from the University of Toronto in 2011 and, after several years in community pharmacy practice, completed the UBC Community Pharmacy Residency program in 2014. He is the course coordinator of PHRM 341 – Pharmacists in Practice III, a seminar course in the third year of the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program that examines current issues in the profession. Earlier in his career, he worked as a clinical pharmacist on a multidisciplinary team helping injured workers return to work, where he gained extensive experience in chronic pain management. That work shaped his ongoing interest in chronic pain, opioid therapy, and opioid tapering, which he teaches through lectures and practice lab activities in the pharmacy program. He also chairs the Student Progress and Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Committees for the Flexible Doctor of Pharmacy and Entry-to-Practice PharmD programs.

Outside of UBC, Vaughn is a pharmacist, owner, and director with Indigo Pharmacy, a group of pharmacies integrated and co-located within primary care and medical specialist group practices. In these settings, pharmacists work alongside prescribers with access to shared clinical information. He shares this industry experience with students in the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program, and his practice research examines how integrating pharmacies within primary care clinics shapes pharmacist practice and uptake of expanded scope. 

He has previously served on committees for several pharmacy organizations, including the College of Pharmacists of BC and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.
