Vaughn Chauvin BSc.Phm, R.Ph, CDE
Clinical Associate Professor
Vaughn attained his BSc(Pharm) degree from the University of Toronto in 2011 and, after working for several years in retail pharmacy, completed the UBC Community Pharmacy Residency program in 2014. Vaughn is the course coordinator of PHRM 341 – Pharmacists in Practice III, a seminar course in the 3rd year of the Entry-to-Practice PharmD program examining issues in the profession. He has a great deal of experience in managing chronic pain as a clinical pharmacist in a multi-disciplinary team working to help injured workers return to work. As a result, he has a particular interest in chronic pain, opioid therapy, and opioid tapering and teaches these topics in both lectures and practice lab activities in the pharmacy program. He is also the Chair of the Student Progress & PLAR Committees for the Flexible Doctor of Pharmacy and the Entry to Practice Pharm D programs.
Outside of UBC, he works with Indigo Pharmacy as an owner, director, and pharmacy manager. The pharmacies in this group are integrated and co-located in family physician and medical specialist group practices. These highly clinical environments allow pharmacists to practice in a fully informed and clinically focused manner and provide more comprehensive care to patients. He also serves on committees for several pharmacy organizations such as the College of Pharmacists of BC and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.
