The Office of Experiential Education (OEE), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the experiential education programs under the Faculty’s Academic Portfolio. This includes the Entry-to-Practice (E2P) PharmD, Flexible (Flex) PharmD, and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (BPSc), as well as the international pharmacy graduates’ placements (Structured Practical Training) in the Canadian Pharmacy Practice Program (CP3).
The OEE facilitates approximately 2,000 placements for over 1,000 students and 900 experiential partners each year. Our unit is responsible for the development and facilitation of all practicum courses offered within the above academic programs, including:
- Student preparation/readiness for practice
- Student support on practicum
- Experiential site recruitment and partner engagement
- Experiential partner development, communication, and support (i.e., practice educators, experiential education facilitators, community partners, industrial partners and research supervisors)
- Community service learning
- Interprofessional education
- Community outreach
- Workplace-based assessment
- Best practices, program evaluation, quality assurance and alignment with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) accreditation standards
- Scholarship and research activities in experiential education
