Dr. Rehmus is currently serving as the head of the Division of Dermatology at BC Children's Hospital where she has worked since 2009. She trained in dermatology at Stanford University. Prior to moving to Canada, she lived and worked for 2 years in the Republic of Palau. She is currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology and on the EDI committee for several organizations. She is passionate about expanding access to care for children with skin disease through education and the development of innovative programs.

Session Information

Description

In the first part of the session, Dr. Rehmus will review presentation and management of mild-moderate atopic dermatitis. She will discuss known cormorbidities associated with atopic dermatitis, treatment options, routine home care, and a variety of clinical presentations. In the second part of the session, she will discuss other forms of dermatitis including seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, dyshidrotic dermatitis, nummular dermatitis, and diaper dermatitis. Distinguishing features and management plans for these conditions will be reviewed.

  2. Recognize other forms of dermatitis and distinguishing features between them.
  3. Know when to refer patients for evaluation and consideration of systemic therapy and understand therapeutic options for children with severe atopic dermatitis.
