Whether you are a first-time practice educator, community/industry partner or research supervisor or have previously worked with students but are looking to further develop effective teaching strategies, various resources and continuing-education opportunities are offered by the Office of Experiential Education. One of our strategic imperatives is to ensure our experiential partners feel supported and have access to training and continuing education opportunities to support their work with our students.
The OEE Partner Resource Centre
The OEE Partner Resource Centre houses continuing education (CE)-accredited and non-accredited training for our experiential partners, as well as the relevant experiential course materials and resources for our academic programs.
To ensure a successful and rewarding precepting experience for both our partners and students, the required training for our experiential partners communicates responsibilities and expectations, reviews important information and the fundamentals needed in their work with our students.
The Practice Educator Development Training (PEDT) Program includes six online, self-paced, sequential training parts, each of which are CE-accredited:
- Part 1: The Role of the Practice Educator
- Part 2: Developing Effective Teaching Strategies at Your Practice Site
- Part 3: Integrating Students into Your Daily Practices
- Part 4: Feedback
- Part 5: Work-Integrated Learning Assessment
- Part 6: Recognizing and Supporting a Student in Difficulty
Additional independent study programs are also offered within our OEE Partner Resource Centre. These courses are open access once you create an online account. Please visit the OEE Partner Resource Centre and enroll in the Start Here course to be guided through the required training components for the academic program(s) in which you are participating.
