Alumni Agent of Change Awards
The Alumni Agent of Change Award and Alumni Future Agent of Change Award acknowledge current and future alumni for remarkable achievements in a clinical, community, education or research field that are having local, national or global impact.

Nominate for the 2025 Alumni Future Agent of Change
A Selection Committee, comprised of faculty, staff and past award recipients, is responsible for reviewing nominations and making a formal recommendation to the Dean of the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the two distinguished alumni awards.
All material is submitted in confidence and only reviewed by the Selection Committee. Nominees must have received at least one degree from the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UBC Pharm Sci) and be an alumnus/alumna of its programs.
Alumni Builder Awards
Established in 2017 to mark the 100th anniversary of alumni UBC, the Alumni Builder Awards recognize outstanding alumni from both campuses who have made significant contributions to the university and positively impacted others. Through their efforts, they have helped advance alumni UBC’s vision of a globally connected community that strengthens UBC and benefits the world. This year’s recipients have been honoured by their UBC faculty for their generosity and dedication.
The 2024–2025 Alumni Builder Award recipient for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is Kirby Smith, MSc’17.
Kirby Smith has been a pivotal ambassador for the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science’s Health Outcomes Program. As an integral contributor to the creation and development of the Future Leaders in Health Outcomes graduate training program, he has facilitated partnerships with numerous industry leaders. This initiative secured significant funding to support trainees and enhanced capacity building in the field. His leadership has advanced health outcomes research at UBC. In addition, his fostering of university and industry collaborations have led to the joint production of world-class, impactful research that is improving the health of Canadians and the future of pharmaceutical science.
